.
As I said in my report Friday on the last Nebraska game I expect the NCAA national championship to be fought out between Nebraska and Ohio State and over the weekend a number of steps were taken toward that goal. It all began with South Carolina knocking off number 1 Alabama while Nebraska pounded previously unbeaten Kansas State.
As a result Nebraska moved up in the national polls to 4 in the coaches poll and 5 in AP. It is only a matter of time before they jump to number 2 and await a final confrontation with Ohio State. Ironically next year Nebraska jumps to the Big Ten, the same conference as Ohio State, and they will be playing each other during the season.

American Pride is Back in Chile No Thanks to Obama and Washington Politicians
.
At 8:30 this morning history was made when a rescue shaft reached 33 trapped miners in Chile who have been entombed over one half mile underground nearly two months. No miners have ever survived for two months underground and it was 33 days ago the rescue drills began a race to reach the 33 men. Ironic isn't it that the drilling to save 33 men took 33 days, that same number of years Jesus walked the earth.
Of course the American media with the exception of CNN completely missed the rescue and Obama and the American politicians were too busy tearing each other apart to recognize the importance of this event to America and America's place in the world.
You see the miners would have remained trapped in their tomb until Christmas if it had not been for the effort of a small American drilling company, Center Rock Inc., from a small town in Pennsylvania. When owner and President Brandon Fisher first heard it would take until Christmas to save the trapped miners he knew he had the equipment and technology to save them much faster and he contacted the Chile government.
Brandon began coordinating an international effort to get his equipment to the site and in use. With the help UPS who shipped it for free and his international contacts the equipment arrived and saved 2 1/2 months of the drilling time needed to reach the men. As they are pulled to freedom this weekend it will be the efforts of Brandon Fisher and his team working with the Chile government that made this possible.
There was no involvement by our haplessly incompetent government and our politicians were too busy trashing each other to take notice but in the end, it was the pride, skill, innovation and organization of Americans that helped save the miners in South America.
The government of Chile, by stepping in and taking charge of the disaster immediately rather than sitting back like the Obama administration did in the BP disaster, and by reaching out to the best people in the world for help unlike our BP experience, in which our government did not, that the potential of America was recognized and achieved.
Chile did a masterful job, Brandon Fisher and his Center Rock company team showed the world what the politicians could not, and the people of Chile now have a miracle. Nothing could highlight the power and importance of small business and innovationi in America more than this nor show it's value to the outside world. By the way, NASA specialists also provided valuable help to the rescue effort and Obama has gutted the NASA budget.

CuChulainn Deo Irie - His Spirit will Live Forever
.
Coolin was of the Super breed from Ireland and stood 40 inches at the shoulders, was 7' 3" from nose to tail, and weighed about 250 pounds. There could be no more loyalty, love and companionship given by one of God's creatures than what Coolin gave me.
While his Gaelic name stood for the Warrior Spirit of Ireland, the Irish Wolfhound are truly the gentle giants of the canine world with a history dating back 3,500 years. I once wrote an article linked below about Living with an Irish Wolfhound.
They are a mystical, spiritual and magical breed and he will be missed.

Chile Mining Disaster Coming to an End - American Heroes Involved
.
It was August 5 when 33 miners were trapped over one half a mile underground and were told it would take until Christmas, nearly five months, to drill new shafts and get them out. That news upset the owner of a small drilling operation in Pennsylvania who knew his company and crew could do much better.
In time they went to Chile to help and now it seems the ingenuity of the American miners could get the trapped miners out nearly two and one half months ahead of time thanks to the Americans and their equipment.
The latest news is the drilling will be complete this weekend and the miners could be saved by next Tuesday. Here is the information you should know about Brandon Fisher and his team, the heroes of the rescue.
Center Rock Drilling Bit Nears Chilean Miners Trapped Underground
October 8
San Jose mine in Copiapo, Chile -- Progress has been rapid on the drilling to rescue the Chilean miners thanks to a huge, 24 hour a day effort and employment of Center Rock's drill bit that is drilling its way through 2,070 feet of rock to finally reach the miners.
Brandon Fisher, CEO of Center Rock, Inc. is personally on-site assisting in the drilling of a rescue shaft to rescue the 33 trapped Chilean gold and copper miners. The planned rescue itself will be by using a steel capsule designed by the Chilean navy lowered into the hole to bring the miners to the surface one-by-one.
This current drilling employs a T-130 rig standing 45 meters tall with a Center Rock percussion-technology drill that can bore through as much as 40 meters of rock per day, depending on conditions. Center Rock has drilled holes as wide as 10 feet in diameter; this drill is carving a shaft 28" in diameter - wide enough to lift a man through using the capsule.
Brandon Fisher, whose American company built the drills, said that the pneumatic-based drilling system that will dig the final hole will have four hammers instead of just one - like the drill that Center Rock used to initially reach the miners with a 12" pilot hole.
Center Rock's drilling expertise was called upon by industry experts and Chile to drill this rescue bore hole for the 33 miners who were trapped during a cave-in on August 5th. The first small bore hole that reached the miners 17 days after the mine collapse brought news to the world they were alive 2,070 feet below the surface. Rescuers have been sending food, medicine and letters through a small pipe to the miners, as well as video cameras so the miners can communicate with their families.
Cutting large diameter holes in rock can be a challenge - the low profile (L.P.) drill series from Center Rock is currently used by some of the nation's largest building, roadway, and mining contractors to quickly drill holes to the exact size required by their specifications. The advanced engineering of the drills provides a cost effec¬tive solution for drilling and excavation requirements up to 120" in diameter.
About Brandon W. Fisher:
Brandon Fisher founded Center Rock, Inc. in 1998 as a small drilling company that has grown to become a leading manufacturer, supplier and service provider of drilling products that now employs approximately 70 people and continues to expand. Fisher's innovative and adaptive leadership coupled with Center Rock's quick responsiveness, unique products and 24-hour customer service are the hallmark of Fisher's entrepreneurial commitment and a key ingredient to his company's ability to compete in the drilling market, world-wide.
About Center Rock, Inc.:
Headquartered in Berlin, PA (with a Construction Product Sales office in Germantown, WI, and an engineering team in Roanoke, VA), Center Rock, Inc. manufactures and distributes a complete line of air drilling tools and products, including L.P. Drills and Hole Openers, that together meet drilling needs ranging from 5" to 120". The company's staff provides more than 75 years of combined oil field and construction site experience, excelling in hard-rock / unconventional environments.
Center Rock drills are frequently used to cut foundation holes for highway overpasses, bridge supports, building foundations and large utility poles among many other infrastructure projects as well as for mining, oil and gas and geothermal drilling.

Campaign 2010 - Whitman Smeared by Brown and O'Donnell Misses Golden Opportunity.
.
In an effort to be fair, today we look at the California Governor's Race and Delaware Senate Race to see how politicians and their advisors are their own worst enemies.
In California Democrat candidate for Governor Jerry Brown forgot to hang up the phone and was taped calling his GOP opponent Meg Whitman a "whore" in an unfortunate moment of frustration.
Just the week before the Democrats in California thought they had Whitman on the ropes with false charges that she hired illegal workers.
But those who smear others often are the losers in the end as the new Brown "whore" tape emerged and not only insulted all the women of California with his sexist insult, but insulted any woman who has been successful in the corporate world. Such a Neanderthal view of women's rights in this day and age has no place in politics.
As for Christine O'Donnell and her bid to unseat the Democrat favorite in the Delaware Senate race, you may remember she was caught on tape about 20 years ago talking about witchcraft. Her advisors got her to make a commercial saying she was not a witch with a dark background.
She should have made fun of the stupid charges and done a commercial that said with the disaster in congress and the economic woes all Americans face she would use witchcraft if necessary to clean up the mess in the capitol.
If she had played off the Bewitched fame of Elizabeth Montgomery, a good witch wrinkling her nose to get rid of Nancy Pelosi or the old politicians in Washington, it just might strike a chord with the public victims of incompetent politicians. We need real people, not politicians, to find our way through the maze.

Obamaville October 8 - Dismal Jobs Report Sink Democrats election Hopes
.
As Obama continues crisscrossing the country raising millions of special interest dollars to prop up failing Democrats campaigns Obama continues to blame everyone but his own policies for the failure to stimulate the struggling economy.
The truth is his cerebral approach to lecturing the public and his lack of any plan for the long term economic recovery has failed and everyone but the White House knows it. With the unemployment rate hovering at an astounding 10% after two years of Obama leadership, there is simply no recognition of the problem and no grasp of the solution forthcoming from the president.
Small business in America and big business as well are not going to create jobs when the Obama social programs hang a threat of massive new federal regulations, higher health care and pension costs, and a higher cost to borrow money.
In short, the Obama strategy of passing so called reform programs with massive new government regulatory requirements and benefits not scheduled until far into the future is not a plan but a shell game of delaying increased costs and lost benefits until sometime in the future. Obama is playing Russian roulette with the future of our country and the people will not stand for it.
Throw them out - throw them all out!

NCAA Football - Nebraska Stakes Claim for National Championship
.
It has been a while since the glory days of Nebraska football when they dominated the national championship polls while winning 5 titles but the Cornhuskers, behind an agressive coach and a freshman quarterback and in their last year in the Big 12 conference before joining the Big Ten next year have let the rest of the college world know they are back. Last night the Big Red demolished unbeaten Kansas State at Kansas while freshman quarterback established his credentials as a true Heisman Trophy candidate with a 48-13 win. Look what the professionals had to say about the resurgent Huskers.
By Brandon Cavanaugh
(Nebraska Featured Columnist) on October 8, 2010
That “clunk” you heard was a gauntlet being thrown to the ground.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers think that they’re just as good as anyone in the country and they dare the opposition to prove them wrong.
After blowing out the candles on Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder’s birthday party by decking the Kansas State Wildcats 48-13, the Cornhuskers sent a message to the conference and the nation.
Taylor Martinez's 259 yards (16.1 YPC) and four touchdowns versus the Wildcats was an amazing way to respond to a lackluster performance versus South Dakota State and the perfect way to stake claim to a potential national championship run.
An offensive leader? Martinez has that part down pat. Supporting cast? Roy Helu, Jr. and Rex Burkhead are ready to shoulder the load.
Demolishing defense? Kansas State’s do-it-all running back Daniel Thomas rushed for a season-low 63 yards versus a Nebraska defensive line that had question marks regarding the run coming into the contest.
The secondary remained stout and linebacker LaVonte David will likely continue to lead the Big 12 conference in tackles after this weekend after a performance that included 16 tackles (10 solo, 2 TFL) and one sack.
Kansas State may have not provided Nebraska with a true litmus test in their quest for a Big 12 Championship, but they gave the Cornhuskers an idea where they stand.
Nebraska’s Big 12 Farewell Tour continues on October 16, a date that has likely been circled in many Cornhuskers’ minds since the 2009 Big 12 Championship.
The Texas Longhorns come to Lincoln and look to work their magic once again toppling Nebraska from their perch.
If Cornhusker head coach Bo Pelini had anything to say about the status of the team, it’s time to see where the smallest improvement is needed to beat Texas and only the Longhorns.
“We still have a lot of things we can improve on,” Pelini said in the post-game press conference following the Kansas State victory. That’s bad news for the rest of the nation as even while some miscues occurred, the sea of red parted any opposition Thursday night and left the Wildcats gasping for air.
ESPN’s crew made several interesting comments as the night wore on including going so far as to suggest that should Nebraska continue to win out, the fresh-faced Martinez ought to be considered for the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
When asked about Martinez’s four-touchdown performance post-game, Pelini responded, “He made some mistakes, but he did a lot of good things. He ran for a lot of yards. He is an explosive player. He creates some problems for defenses.”
Indeed he does, coach.
If teams continue at their current rate, Nebraska and long-time rival Oklahoma may add an old-fashioned flavor to the Big 12’s final conference championship game.
Fans of current top five teams have to wonder how they might fare against the Cornhuskers, their electric offense and stifling defense.
Would Gary Patterson’s TCU Horned Frogs be able to keep up? Could Boise State’s Kellen Moore navigate the Blackshirts’ secondary, one of the finest in college football?
Would Oregon’s equally effective offense provide Martinez-like shock and awe? Will Nebraska meet future Big 10 foe Ohio State for all of the marbles or could the Cornhuskers even take on Alabama in a rematch of the 1971 national championship game?
Notice has been served to the rest of the country.
Nebraska isn’t intent on settling for simply winning the Big 12 in its final season amongst the conference. Bo Pelini wants to prove his statement from the post-Holiday Bowl press conference last year, “Nebraska is back and we’re here to stay.”
Here are clips of Taylor Martinez and his stunning performance at K State last night. Click on the image to enlarge.

The Big Ten is shaping to be one of the two top conferences in college football this season, with Ohio State being the top dog.
To get to the BCS title game, the Buckeyes will likely have to go 12-0 in the regular season. Before the start of the season, this corner held the belief an 11-1 mark, with that loss being at Wisconsin on Oct. 16, would be enough.
Not after Nebraska's dismantling of Kansas State on Thursday night. A lot can happen from now until early December, but it's looking like a good bet the Cornhuskers run the table until the Big 12 title game.
There, Oklahoma likely awaits, and that's surely no layup for Nebraska.
Until then, the 'Huskers have remaining home games with Texas, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado and road games at Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Texas A&M.
Nebraska won't join the Big Ten until 2011, but if the Buckeyes don't run the tables themselves in 2010, the Cornhuskers could be crashing the Big Ten a year early.
And passing the Buckeyes right into the game for the national championship.

Steny Hoyer Best Majority Leader Special Interest Money Can Buy!
.
Since the Democratic leadership has made such a big deal of trashing the speial interest money flowing into campaigns I thought we should review the current status of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a leading spokesperson for Obama and Nancy Pelosi in condemning the influence of special interests and lobbyists.
The following tables show how he has avoided special interest money. Fat chance. He has received more lobbying money than anyone in the House and ranks at the top of the benefactors for all special interests. Now Congressman, there is no need to be a hypocrite.
The Hoyer harvest...

Obamaville October 6 - Good Old Joe May Become Expendable Joe in 2012 - Joe Biden, VP
.
On the heels of Obama's strange Rolling Stone interview, yet another dismal jobs report today, Joe Biden's rather inflammatory remark about Republicans and Obama's speech yesterday when his Presidential Seal fell off the podium, comes a report from super Democratic sleuth Bob Woodward that the president is considering dumping good old Joe for Hillary in 2012 to have any chance of winning re-election.
The things people do to promote book sales. Have you noticed that all the Democratic insiders are rushing books to print before the midterm election? When you add the avalanche of new books written by all the liberal media, especially everyone appearing on the liberal bastion MSNBC, you might think their publishers realized if Obama loses big in less than four weeks there might not be a market for losers.
To his credit Obama handled the reaction to his interview okay by saying nothing knowing the liberal media would drop the story immediately to protect the president. As for the Presidential Seal falling he laughed that off in uncharacteristic Obama fashion as spontaneous humor is not his long suit. Here is how he handled it.
Biden's GOP remark, made in jest as most gaffes uttered by Biden, was quickly buried by the media as well. But Acording to a pool report from Tuesday’s event in Dayton, Minnesota Biden was telling the crowd that Democrats know how to balance the budget. He said, “If I hear one more Republican tell me about balancing the budget, I am going to strangle them.”
Of course VP Biden has a reputation for saying things. As Senator of South Carolina Lindsey Graham put it, "If there were no gaffes, there'd be no Joe."
So, here is a list of the top 5 Joe Biden gaffes of all times.
Biden tells wheelchair bound Missouri Senator Chuck Graham to stand up
1. Telling wheelchair bound Missouri Senator Chuck Graham to stand up to be recognized at a rally. "Chuck, stand up, let the people see you," said Biden at the rally. He then noticed the wheelchair and added, "Oh, God love ya...What am I talking about?" He tried to mend the situation and got the whole audience to stand up for Graham.
2. Calling Obama "Barack America." While introducing Barack Obama at a rally in August of 2008, Biden said, "This election year, the choice is clear. One man stands ready to go for change we so desperately need. A man I proudly call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States -- Barack America..."
3. Another Biden's gaffe that made Obama uneasy came at an anti-HIV rally. When Biden was asked about AIDS prevention in young people, he started talking about denial and "lack of honesty." He than launched his tirade about the importance of testing saying, "I got tested for AIDS. I know Barack got tested for AIDS. There is no shame in being tested for AIDS..." The audience broke out in laughter, and Obama had to make a correction and say that he got tested for AIDS along with his wife Michelle after traveling to Kenya.
4. Biden was caught on amateur camera talking about an elusive connection between Dunkin' Donuts and Indian people. "In Delaware, the largest portion of the population is Indian-Americans," said Biden. "You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I'm not joking."
5. The one gaffe that actually had some consequences and required immediate clarification from the press relations office was when Vice President Biden talked about the swine flu on NBC's Today show. While addressing the issue of prevention, Biden said, "I would tell members of my family - and I have - I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. It's not just going to Mexico, if you're in a confined aircraft and one person sneezes it goes all the way through the aircraft. That's me. I would not be at this point, if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway. If you're out in the middle of a field and someone sneezes, that's one thing. If you're in a closed aircraft or a closed container, a closed car, a closed classroom, it's a different thing." Biden's spokeswoman had to issue a statement after the interview saying the Vice President did not mean to unduly alarm anyone. However, representatives of air carriers expressed their frustration, saying air travel was still safe.
At any rate, gaffes are frequent with Good Old Joe which might be why the White House is considering dumping him for Hillary in 2012. Of course the White House quickly denied the report by Woodward just a few days after saying Woodward was accurate in his book on Obama's War that was filled with inside information, some controversial. So do we believe Bob Woodward or not?

Obama Follows General McCrystal with Strange Rolling Stone Interview
.
Perhaps the commander in chief should have learned the danger of granting interviews to Rolling Stone magazine as it cost the General his job and Obama should know, he fired him. But content in his knowledge that the media is too liberal and too enamored of him and he is in command of all things, he faced the Stone people and made some rather odd comments, even for an Ivy League educated President.
Here are the highlights which should give everyone cause for concern as this is the president of all the people talking. At least Bob Dylan, subject of the last quote, refused to play the political game when Obama invited him to perform at the White House fully expecting a photo op with him. Go Bob!!!
On the Tea Party: “There are strains in the tea party that are troubled by what they saw as a series of instances in which the middle-class and working-class people have been abused or hurt by special interests in Washington, but their anger is misdirected. And then there are probably some aspects of the Tea Party that are a little darker, that have to do with anti-immigrant sentiment or are troubled by what I represent as the president. So I think it’s hard to characterize the Tea Party as a whole, and I think it’s still defining itself.”
On Fox News: “The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It’s a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world.”
On the Democratic Party Mindset: “Some of it, also, has to do with — and I joke about it — that there’s a turn of mind among Democrats and progressives where a lot of times we see the glass as half-empty. It’s like, ‘Well, gosh, we’ve got this historic health care legislation that we’ve been trying to pass for 100 years, but it didn’t have every bell and whistle that we wanted right now, so let’s focus on what we didn’t get instead of what we got.”
On Firing Gen. McChrystal: “…it pained me to have to make the decision I did. Having said that, he showed bad judgment. When I put somebody in charge of the lives of 100,000 young men and women in a very hazardous situation, they’ve got to conduct themselves at the highest standards, and he didn’t meet those standards.”
On Bob Dylan Playing the White House: “Here’s what I love about Dylan: He was exactly as you’d expect he would be. He wouldn’t come to the rehearsal; usually, all these guys are practicing before the set in the evening. He didn’t want to take a picture with me; usually all the talent is dying to take a picture with me and Michelle before the show, but he didn’t show up to that. He came in and played “The Times They Are A-Changin.” A beautiful rendition.”

Liberal One Nation Rally Trashes Nation's Capitol - News The Media Didn't Report
.
More than 400 liberal unions, civil rights, environmental, gay rights, and other progressive groups gathered in DC October 2 to prove 400 liberal organizations could outdraw one conservative, Glenn Beck, but all they really proved is how much they are really dedicated to the nation and environment. The mountain of trash left behind on our nation's most sacred monuments was astounding considering the causes in attendance and of course the media forgot to point out a single negative sign when the mall had many negative and socialist signs.
While the unions again spent a small fortune in union dues busing in protesters and the speakers wailed against the Constitution and those who might disagree with their far left agendas at least the left wing media like Jonathan Capehart from the Washington Post, a favorite of MSNBC, could report on events with the typical blinders of a special interest.
As for the comparison with Beck, you judge from the actual photos. We now know it takes 400 liberal organizations and free busing from the SEIU to equal 1/2 the crowd drawn by Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and that liberals who champion the environment re the biggest polluters of all.
NAACP's Ben Jealous Continues Liberal Lies and Distortion
What is wrong with the leaders of the civil rights groups in America who claim to want to work with the Tea party to bring America together then spout blatant lies about the Tea party as if hiding behind Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy can shield them from the truth.
Hey Ben, a lie is a lie! Claiming to extend an olive branch to the Tea party won't work when the olive branch is laced with cyanide. It is also really silly to claim you formally invited the Tea party to the socialist rally and then refuse to identify what Tea Party official you invited to the media. Since you then proceeded to trash the Tea Party while purporting to extend the olive branch you win hypocrite of the day honors.
Here are some of the other images the national media doesn't want you to see from the liberal bash.
