Walter B. Dorsey, Third Generation Political Legend, Remembered

Last December 6 Southern Maryland lost a fascinating political legend, a brilliant legal mind, one of the most colorful prosecutors and defenders in Maryland and a founder of the conservative movement within the Democratic party that has now extended from coast to coast when Walter B. Dorsey lost a decades long battle to cancer.



I was honored to spend time interviewing Walter shortly before his death and to gain a deep appreciation of the fascinating family history interwoven into the Maryland political landscape by the Dorsey family. Talking to Walter, in spite of the medical difficulties he experienced, was a bit like listening to a famed politician like Tip O'Neil from Massachusetts, former Speaker of the House and legendary story teller. I had occasion to visit with Tip and Walter holds his own in that league.



His love of life, even with his condition, always trumped the difficulties he faced and after we talked Walter was off in a car driving to Florida with his oxygen bottles and survival gear daring the Angel of Death to just try and take him. There simply are no more politicians like Walter left and it would be a crying shame if the lessons he could teach us are not learned.



When he died it was the end of a tumultuous yet golden era in Southern Maryland and statewide politics as this third generation public servant put his indelible stamp on history and left a rich legacy of service, a shrewd record of political survival and a mosaic of interwoven personal experiences that made Walter bigger than life.



Then again, it was only appropriate that this son of a son of a son of an Irishman would use his Irish wit, his Leprechaun mischief, his command of language and gift of storytelling to mesmerize juries, outwit the opposition and more likely than not aggravate the judges while amassing a stunning record of victory in court and politics.



Walter was first and foremost a people person with a love of knowledge, a hunger for defending the little people and a panache for competition and controversy. He came from two generations of political activists, a heritage in Southern Maryland transcending centuries and a desire to fight for what was right.



Before that the ancestral family came from Ireland by way of England, France and Nordic countries with the name changing from D'Arcy in France to Dorsey in Ireland. It was Ireland where Phil's brother John met the Mayor of Dublin, John Dorsey, on a trip.



Fate put him in a family where politics ran in the blood. His great grandfather was Philip Dorsey, born in Calvert County but an adventurer who was part of the 1849 gold rush in California. Walter once told me family lore says his great grandfather Philip found gold and once owned a claim to what became San Francisco. Then he caught a ship for home that sailed around South America.



Family legend has it the ship wrecked rounding Cape Horn off Chile and Philip was lost at sea and given up for dead. More than two years later he showed up in Maryland saying he walked all the way up the Amazon through South, Central and North America to St. Mary's County, Maryland. As for his claim for San Francisco, he probably lost it in a poker game.



His grandfather, Walter B. Dorsey, was first elected to the Maryland House of delegates in 1911 while his father, Judge Philip H. Dorsey was a Circuit Court Judge who was elected Senator in 1926 and to the House of Delegates in 1930 and 1934. Walter was first elected State Attorney in 1954, then elected to the State Senate in 1958, the third generation Dorsey to serve in the state legislature. He was then elected State Attorney again in 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994. From 1962-66 he served as Assistant Attorney General for the state and in the 1970's he served as the Deputy Maryland Public Defender.



During the three generations of Dorsey politics Southern Maryland became a hotbed for statewide politics and many a weekend was spent at the Dorsey home with whoever the presiding governor of Maryland might be. You see, in those days the Democrats controlled the Baltimore area and the Republicans controlled the Washington suburbs. To win you often needed St. Mary's County and that meant the Dorsey family.



After a volatile, stellar and most unusual political career Walter then went on to build businesses with his brother and son and was behind many developments in St. Mary's County along with building a Checkers hamburger franchise of nearly a dozen stores throughout Maryland.



Though not a Catholic he was a friend of many Catholic leaders in the Archdiocese and often the Catholic sermons in the county included a priest singing the praises of the latest Dorsey candidate for public office. He was also generous to a fault and never hesitated to help out an organization working to benefit the people of the county.



His years in public service saw many landmark legal cases, numerous precedent setting decisions, and a colorful history that will never be matched again. Maryland will be without a proper and accurate history of the 20th century if the Dorsey story is not told by his surviving children, Philip H. Dorsey, III, Helen Marie Dorsey and John Michael Dorsey. Then again, a fourth generation Dorsey in politics might just be a good thing as well.



In terms of family heritage in Coltons Point, the family still has property in Coltons Point overlooking St. Clement's Island. They are directly related to the Blackistone family who owned St. Clement's Island and Manor having acquired it in the 1600's through marriage to the Gerard family. The Gerards were the original aristocrats of St. Clement's Island and Manor fame and they were financiers of the Ark and the Dove trip to Maryland in 1633.

Why is it the elite liberals of America have such an obsessive attraction to Sarah Palin, the people's voice from the wilderness whose determination to rid the establishment of old time politicians drives a stake into the heart of liberals leaving them frothing at the mouth when she speaks or Twitters?

Of all people it is the intellectual wing of the liberal cause that is first and most furious to react to virtually any act, words or appearances of Palin from the writing on her hand to the words from her mouth. You would think after all these years in politics they would understand when it comes to Palin, it is the far left that empowers her, keeps her in the limelight, and makes her bigger than life.



Now I have been involved in politics a long time working for Democrats, Republicans and Independents over the years and with the exception of Ross Perot, whose Independent movement brought down a Republican president 18 years ago, there has never been a phenomena quite like Sarah. It seems that all those in opposition to Palin have gone brain dead in trying to deal with her.

First take a look at the polls. Palin's claim to fame before the vice presidential race was being governor of Alaska, a state few know anything about. Her meteoric rise as vice president candidate was fueled by the most vicious attacks in politics ever seen bringing truth to the old adage that the more you attack the more sympathy the public is likely to give that person. American's like underdogs and never was the media and liberal community more guilty of creating the very underdog they came to fear and loath.



But you would have thought the election of Obama would have ended that. When she resigned as Alaska governor six months later and two years before the end of her term, a sure sign of political fatigue, it should have been the last we heard from the moose hunter from Alaska. But it was only the beginning of her rise to standard bearer for all who are fed up with politics as usual.

Palin has defied the odds over and over again in spite of the increasing outcry by the White House, liberals, the media and special interests who keep her in the spotlight and have brought her to the consciousness of every voter in America. The vicious nature of attacks and incredible manipulation of the truth about her make her bigger than life and her opponents are to blame.

In politics, the first truism is people have got to know who you are, the infamous name recognition argument that rings true every election cycle. To keep people out of the news you ignore them. To keep people in the news you attack them. Those who do the latter lose and no one is more responsible for the astonishing name recognition of Sarah Palin than the liberal media and leftist intellectuals, with the sole exception of the White House staff and VP Joe Biden who remains somewhat detached from the elitist intellectuals running the White House.

In Biden's case his role is stalking horse for the president, a role he fulfills with blinders and quite well. Yet even Obama says Biden is deeply involved in everything done by the president so we must take Obama at his word, when Biden speaks about Palin it is the president who is speaking through him. The same with the Chicago gang in the White House who never miss a chance to discredit Palin no matter how far they have to stray from the truth. Their words are those of Obama.



Now acknowledging that the Obama campaign machine and the liberal media machine both blew it by failing to ignore her and in turn making Palin bigger than life, what is going on? I believe the hatred of Palin is so deeply entrenched that the liberals, especially media and intellectuals, and the White House elitists are so consumed they will never see the light and leave Sarah alone.

Palin does everything they expected to control and she has trampled on their perception of the role of the elite in society today. The liberals champion causes yet Palin can take on any cause and threaten their goals. For example take energy. She knows how to get energy independence with existing energy. They only believe their green society, Wall Street alignments and new energy are the future. Just when they expected Obama to implement all their untried and untested theories along comes Palin and stops them dead in their tracks.

They paint her as a fool yet she stops cap and trade legislation by telling the people the truth about it. A defeated candidate who resigned from her own office has the power to stop the special interests with no office, no base, not even support from her own political party. The same is true with the Obama secret deals with Wall Street, the ineffectiveness of stimulus and bailouts, the sheer idiocy of the health care potpourri and by raising questions about the sanctity of life.

No outsider with no political base has ever dominated the agenda of our Washington politicians and national media like Sarah and no outsider has generated the response, the attacks, the fear as Sarah has on the liberals and those trying to preserve the status quo.



Oh the incessant attacks have swayed some voters, mostly those members of the very special interests trying to steal America. But as Palin conquers one step at a time in capturing the consciousness of America her base grows as people don't have to believe she is qualified to be president, they just have to believe that she is honest, has family values, common sense and a desire to bring the government under control. She is the heart of the public and the voice of the silent Americans just as she is the only national figure who seems to listen and genuinely want to hear what the public has to say.



When Palin released a book, Going Rogue, that outsold all other political books in history, now surpassing two million copies, far more than any liberal or media person ever dreamed of selling, it was the last straw for the elite. How dare this half-baked grandmother from Alaska, a former beauty queen who dared marry her local sweetheart, who raised five kids and loved one with down syndrome, who hunted with real guns and even fished, who flew her own plane and dared speak for the people. It was just not right that the intellectuals could not sell books like Sarah.

So here we are, a year after her election defeat, six months after she resigned as governor, and what is Sarah doing? Well, this best selling author is leading the charge to throw the Democrats out of office, and the outsiders are three for three to date. She is now a Fox News commentator no longer needing the media for exposure. She is one of the highest paid speakers in America and has a powerful campaign committee helping out new politicians around the nation.

In this past week when the entire Northeast was buried under a snowstorm and the politicians were silent, it was the Beauty Queen from Alaska who dominated the media, stole the agenda of America, and simply refuses to go away. In response she has been blasted on every liberal media outlet every single day over stupid things while she was busy addressing issues and demonstrating that she has indeed changed since the elections.



Larry King had Vice President Biden on television talking about Palin. The White House resorted to their juvenile smear tactics to make fun of her notes on her hand. Liberal polls bombarded the media showing Palin was bad in a dozen different ways though Palin is not running for anything. The frenzy of attacks on Sarah was as great as any time during the last campaign and what happened during the campaign was one of the darker moments of our political history.

Still, if you ignored the political babbling there were stories and op-ed pieces about Palin by those who once upon a time were out to destroy her and suddenly a different tone was starting to be heard about the beast from the northwest. Both The New York Times and Washington Post ran articles warning the liberals that Sarah Palin deserved to be heard. She had a connection to Americans that should not be ignored.

The shock of Sarah in the media was suddenly overwhelmed by the far worse shock that some liberal media were saying maybe she did deserve to be heard

Love her or hate her, Sarah Palin is a political force that defies the odds and breaks the mold. She came from the backwoods and dominates the realm of the elite, the Internet, with her incessant Face Book barrages and multi-million book sales. Sarah makes life interesting, makes politicians accountable and brings family values and honesty to politics. Everyone, friend and foe, benefits from her crusade.



Clearly Sarah Palin is our Valentine's Day gift to liberals because if they accept the gift rather than reject it maybe Sarah will get a break, the media will leave her alone, and the liberals will stop making her bigger than life. We kind of like her being a moose hunter from Alaska with a bulls eye on the Wall Street and Washington establishments. You know you cannot stop her. Why don't you just leave our voice in the wilderness alone? Oh did I mention she just turned a young 46? Sarah may be around for quite a while.

Obama Proves He is Corporate Darling Despite Outgoing Opposition

His latest comments seem to prove once and for all that President Obama is really the friend of Wall Street and corporate executives even though the White House had to respond once again with denials and clarifications of his comments as the fury arose from the people.



Of course the corporate executives, who have seen profits and bonuses spiral out of control thanks to our ever so generous president and his bailouts, still do not trust the president and who could when he changes his policy whenever the polls and people raise hell. But they are laughing all the way to the bank.

His most recent comments, when he said he "doesn't begrudge" some of the multimillion dollar bonuses handed out to top Wall Street executives, tried to disguise his thoughts as defending the free market system in America but in truth he has simply aided the corporate takeover of the government.

For over two years we have written about his strange connection to Wall Street, and especially Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. However, neither the White House nor Congress has ever attempted to explain the series of actions we identified between Obama and Goldman Sachs dating all the way back to his election to the US Senate in 2004.

Now he actually defends the billion dollar bonus packagers of Wall Street and even approved those for AIG where another $90 billion in federal bailout money was diverted to save the very companies giving out the bonuses. Is it possible the liberal left are so blind they do not see how their own Chosen One sold them out long ago?



The economic policy of the Obama administration is like a revolving door with no clear policy, no clear, bad guys, not even a clear idea on how to proceed. We continue, now over a year, to wait for Obama to take charge of the economy, unemployment, punishing Wall Street, cutting the deficit and stop adding to the national debt but actions are lost in the proliferation of words from Obama and his trusted apologists.



Let's face it, we have rookies in the White House. What experience they might have had was how to rip off the government, not help it. They were behind the housing crisis, the oil crisis, the swaps and derivative frauds, the hedge fund loop holes and even the loss of control by the SEC over the stock and commodity markets.

Maybe now that there is nothing left of the government in terms of fiscal solvency all these experts and advisors will go back to their Wall Street lairs and find someone else to go after. The only people being stimulated by our government are the fat cats on Wall Street and in the White House. The only people benefiting from increased money are Congressmen filling their campaign coffers with dirty money from the corporate and union raiders.

We need a leader and we get a preacher. We need a man of principle and we get a man who goes with the wind. We need a fighter and we get a teleprompter robot. When we do get what we voted for?

It was a super Super Bowl for New Orleans and the long drought for the Saints came to an emphatic end as Drew Brees led the Saints to victory over New Orleans native Payton Manning and the Colts.



The first quarter it was all Indianapolis. The second belonged to New Orleans. But the second half the Saints started dramatically with an onside kick, a first for the Super Bowl, and they never looked back.

By the end it was clear destiny was with the Saints and they played well, rode the stunning performance of Brees, and reign as number one in the world of football. It just may have finally put to an end the rebuilding of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina four years ago.



There are a number of readers of the Coltons Point Times from New Orleans including Maracel and EJ and their family and they even traveled to Coltons Point last fall to share the famous New Orleans cuisine with those of us in Southern Maryland.



We received constant updates during the Super Bowl week and especially the party after when the City of New Orleans was booked solid for a game in Miami. That is the love of life and parties inherent in our gem of a city down in Louisiana.



When the team returned to New Orleans for the victory celebration Mardi Gras just started a couple of days early and the Krewe floats came out in a rare joint appearance for their team. You see, for about a hundred years each New Orleans Krewe has it's own parade during Mardi Gras but they all were there to honor the team.



Drew Brees became the next American super star and his humble nature, mild demeanor and precision passing earned him Most Valuable player, an honor he immediately shared with the team.



If there is an America's team like the Dallas Cowboys used to be it is the New Orleans Saints and I doubt many people were not happy with the outcome. Way to go New Orleans, you made us proud and you helped us forget the mess that was made of the clean up after Katrina.

What is Really Causing the Auto Recalls? Maybe it wasn't Toyota's Fault?

Now that number one auto seller Toyota and the company with the highest consumer ratings has suffered a series of recalls on nine different models we see the price one does pay to be first. But wait a minute, why are there right now 45 different cars being recalled for a variety of reasons?



Could it be that it may not be just the fault of the auto companies? For many years I have been involved in the study of frequencies and the effect on people and the electrical devices we have come to depend upon.



Nearly 25 years ago I got involved with the Monroe Institute and the work Robert Monroe, a former audio engineer at CBS, was doing to open the doors to the use of energy frequencies to heal people. In addition his research was followed closely by the Defense Department as he explored ways to leave the physical body and project to other locations, a technique the military and intelligence agencies pursued called remote viewing. More will be written on this in a later article.



Much earlier I had studied the work of Dr. Royal Rife from the Midwest.

Dr Royal Rife was probably one of the most brilliant (not to mention persistent) scientists ever to have walked upon this planet. He won 14 awards from the government for his research and was given an honorary medical degree from the University of Heidleberg.

When the technology didn't exist, Rife invented it. Financed by millionaires like Henry Timken, Rife invented the Universal Microscope with 5,682 parts. It was a miraculous machine that could see things smaller than waves of light (which was then and is still today thought to be impossible). Rife was the first to see a live virus. Today's electron microscopes see viruses, but they destroy them in the process through the bombardment of electrons.



While examining bacteria and viruses, Rife noticed that each one gave off a distinct light (or color) pattern. (In the late sixties it was discovered that every living cell actually gives off light and the healthier the cell the healthier the light; conversely the sicker the cell the weaker the light. But this research by Rife was done in the twenties using technology Rife himself invented.) So Rife began to experiment with instruments he invented that oscillated at the frequencies he'd determined from the organisms (bacteria and viruses) and he discovered that by playing back their own pattern of oscillation, slightly modified, he could destroy them without affecting the tissues around them. In other words, Rife could kill a particular virus or bacterium using light rays alone, light rays that were absolutely harmless to the host animal, but deadly to the microbe.

Now comes the really interesting part of Rife's work: he discovered a virus that caused cancer. And he discovered a cure.

Rife named his human cancer virus Cryptocides Primordiales (primordial hidden killer). He injected his virus into 400 lab animals creating 400 tumors. Then, using equipment he had painstakingly designed and tweaked, he exposed the diseased animals to a modified form of energy that was unique to the Cryptocides Primordiales virus, and destroyed all the tumors. Rife diligently worked for decades isolating patterns, modifying them, and playing them back killing microbes that caused disease.

When Rife went public, the University of Southern California sponsored a special medical research team to evaluate this new therapy on the terminally ill. After 130 days, every patient recovered with no side effects to the treatment.

The head of the AMA hopped a train from Chicago to visit Rife in San Diego. Pictures were taken, the story ended up on the front page of the San Diego Evening Tribune: Rife was on his way to a Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Today you would be hard pressed to find any reference to Rife in history books. Contact a newspaper for a specific date or story and they will probably tell you that that one is missing from their archives. It is as if Rife and his work have been utterly expunged from the annals of history. His microscope did not exist. His instruments did not exist. His research did not exist. The man himself did not exist.

The AMA wanted a cut. Drug companies pressed for more proof before allowing his instruments to be used. It seems that when a medical device wants FDA approval, each and every use must be evaluated (at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars). Now, keep in mind that Rife had built his microscope and instruments and had worked for decades studying and destroying microbes all before 1930. From 1934 to 1939 doctors all over America used the Rife machines to cure disease, and all over America doctors were being pressured to stop this practice. Offices were broken into and their machines were confiscated. With the backing of the AMA an engineer working with Rife, filed suit against Rife, and this was the beginning of the end. The unending court battles wore Rife down, and the more depressed he got, the heavier he drank and then came the unexpected, the terrifying conclusion: his microscope was stolen and soon afterwards his laboratory went up in flames and his records and research burnt entirely.

The Burnett Lab in New Jersey where Rife's work was being independently validated burned to the ground. Dr Milbank Johnson, a supporter of Rife's and one of the people who had worked to validate Rife's research was poisoned. Dr Nemes who was duplicating Rife's work just 40 miles from Rife's own lab was killed in a mysterious fire that consumed his lab and research papers. Rife's closest associate was given a grant for $200,000 and quickly vanished. People who had worked with Rife suddenly denied knowing him. Rife sunk further and further into depression and alcoholism. By 1940, Rife's work had been wiped out entirely. Every time he tried to pull himself back on track to reduplicate his research, he was hounded and harassed and finally his life ended in a hospital by an overdose that was not self-administered.

No one has yet been able to rebuild Rife's microscope. Many of Rife's associates have come forward in the past two decades, and some have reengineered Rife's equipment for creating these light waves. The frequencies at which certain bacteria and viruses are killed are once again being compiled. However, without a powerful enough microscope (and Rife's perspicacity) and all the while battling the powers that be (thriving drug companies backed by the power of the FDA) it could take years to reduplicate Rife's work.



People have been stopped before with miracle cures in order to protect multi billion dollar industries intended to treat your illness, not cure it. The use of science and frequencies by Dr. Rife and Robert Monroe demonstrated how little we know about the impact of frequencies on our lives.

Now fast forward to today. We are being bombarded by frequencies from satellites, cell phone towers and who knows what other sources. We are also being blasted by solar radiation at levels not seen for years from unusual sunspot activity. A new development that has caught the attention of our own scientists as noted from the following report by the BBC last week.

Researchers say the Sun is awakening after a period of low activity, which does not bode well for a world ever more dependent on satellite navigation.

The Sun's irregular activity can wreak havoc with the weak sat-nav signals we use.
The last time the Sun reached a peak in activity, satellite navigation was barely a consumer product.

But the Sun is on its way to another solar maximum, which could generate large and unpredictable sat-nav errors.

It is not just car sat-nav devices that make use of the satellite signals; accurate and dependable sat-nav signals have, since the last solar maximum, quietly become a necessity for modern infrastructure.



Military operations worldwide depend on them, although they use far more sophisticated equipment.

Sat-nav devices now form a key part of emergency vehicles' arsenals. They are used for high-precision surveying, docking ships and plans are even underway to incorporate them into commercial aircraft.

Closer to home, more and more trains depend on a firm location fix before their doors will open.



Simple geometry

The satellite navigation concept is embodied currently by the US GPS system and Russia's Glonass network, with contenders to come in the form of Europe's Galileo constellation and China's Compass system.

Solar flares - vast exhalations of magnetic energy from the Sun's surface - spray out radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from low-energy radio waves through to high-energy gamma-rays, along with bursts of high-energy particles toward the Earth.

The radiation or waves that come from the Sun can make sat-nav receivers unable to pick out the weak signal from satellites from the solar flare's aftermath.
There is little that current technology can do to mitigate this problem, with the exception of complex directional antennas used in military applications.
Sat-nav receivers will be blinded for tens of minutes, probably a few times a year at the solar maximum.

Charged up

A further complication comes from the nature of the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere, the ionosphere.

That is composed in part of particles that have ionised, or been ripped apart by radiation from the Sun, with the composition dependent on how much radiation is coming from the Sun at a given time.

The problem comes about because sat-nav technology assumes that signals pass through at a constant speed - which in the ionosphere isn't necessarily the case.
"The key point is how fast the signals actually travelled," said Cathryn Mitchell of the University of Bath.

"When they come through the ionosphere, they slow down by an amount that is actually quite variable, and that adds an error into the system when you do the calculations for your position," Professor Mitchell told BBC News.

The amount of solar activity runs on many cycles; the ionisation will be different on the sun-lit side of the Earth from the night side, and different between summer and winter; each of these cycles imparts a small error to a sat-nav's position.

But the disruption caused by solar flares is significantly higher.

The increased radiation will ionise more molecules, and the bursts of particles can become trapped in the ionosphere as the Earth's magnetic field drags them in.

The effects that sat-nav users will face, however, are difficult to predict.
"We can look at the measurements from the last solar maximum," Professor Mitchell said.

"If we project those forward, it varies quite a lot across the Earth; looking at the UK it will be about 10-metre errors in the positioning."

The errors would be much more long-lasting than the "blindness" problem, lasting hours or even days.



Researchers have no idea what the effect of this solar radiation will have on the machines we have become dependent upon. However, it is enough to cause them to spend millions trying to determine what is happening. They also have no idea what the effect of the concentration of cell phone towers will have on people or machines.



We all know that all recent autos are dependent on a computer driven operating system and that virtually every function in a car is computer driven. Could it be the same radiation is causing a breakdown in the computer chips in autos?

That would explain why the most reliable cars in the world have suddenly become unreliable. It would also explain why suddenly 45 different cars are having major problems with functions directly related to the computers in cars.

I have seen enough over the years to know how little we know and it would seem that if the problem is related to the natural occurrence of solar activity or even to the saturation of the earth with our own microwave, cell phone and other devices then what we have experienced to date could be the beginning of our troubles, not the end.



Science owes us answers to the effects of what they are doing and if they don't know then they should warn us. Much of the work of Nicola Tesla, a pioneer in energy and it's use, Rife and Monroe has been suppressed by authorities and could give us much insight into what is the truth. You should take some time to look in to these matters.

Winter 2010 is Not Through Yet

Just when you think we might get back to a normal winter which means it has to stop snowing since we are already way beyond normal snowfall, here it comes again. So this latest blast left about 10 more inches here but the quite cold temperature and winds of 40-60 mph drove the wind chill down to around 5 to -5 degrees.



This time the roads were frozen solid with a nice coating of ice. Of course Maryland, Washington, DC and the entire North Atlantic have closed yet again, the third straight day for the federal government and they announced they will be closed Thursday, the fourth straight day.



When I worked at the White House and Congress I never remembered snow like this and for good reason since Washington, DC and Coltons Point both broke records for the most snow in a winter in history. The DC record was set in 1898. I have no idea what the new records might be since we are already over 60 inches and it is only mid-February.



Now Coolin, my giant Irish Wolfhound, seen below trying to stay out of the blizzard while still staying outside, loves winter and cold and snow but hates ice. He is so conscious of his size he will not walk on ice, nor go up stairs with ice, meaning I have to put rugs on the steps when it gets icy which has been almost every day since about a month ago.



Maryland must have cut the budget for snow removal because there is little hope of getting anywhere in a storm or for the next few days after. Just tonight our governor declared a snow emergency (a little late after the state has already been paralyzed by the blizzard) and said the side streets would not be cleared for 72 hours.



Back in Iowa and Nebraska if a mayor or governor said roads would not be cleared of snow for a week, which is how long it has been between the last two storms, he wouldn't be a politician for long. And if he said any car stuck in the snow would be ticketed and towed with more charges he'd probably be lynched.



Since we have a bunch of Democrats in Maryland and Washington we can only assume this liberal snow clean up chaos is a result of Democrats being in control. Liberals must not like snow much and certainly don't want to jeopardize their base by making the union members on the highway crews go out in that awful cold.



We still have electricity and heat, food and clothes so things could be worse. It is supposed to get well below zero tonight with the wind chill and there are thousands of people with no heat or electricity so we hope they are okay.
