Barack Obama - Great Expectations - Dickens and the Left

.

Looking back at the nearly six years since Barack Obama stunned the world and was elected the first Black president in American history, it is not hard to see how he was more suited as a cast  member of the movie Great Expectations than the reality of leading a nation full of Great Expectations.

Whereas Charles Dickens' 13th novel, Great Expectations, was the story of a young lad coming of age, so was Obama's election that of a young lad coming of age.  Dickens' Great Expectations is a graphic book, full of extreme imagery, poverty, prison ships, "the hulks," barriers and chains, and fights to the death.

I see the same kind of extreme imagery in Obama's journey through the presidency.  Surrounded by powerful bankers and other insidious scoundrels and dependent on a host of close advisors and friends whose principal purpose was the exercise of self-serving greed, experience proved a very tough lesson for Dickens' Pip and America's Obama.

"Welcome to the presidency Barack," came the deafening roar of the liberal left and socialist lefter with every special interest group East of Eden clamoring for a piece of the fat cat Wall Street 1% of the wealth in America.

His embedded constituency never believed in Obama's message of HOPE plastered everywhere during the campaign.  They had no intention of "hoping" for anything, all along they were prepared to take what they wanted from whomever they wanted.

That might work in the smoke filled rooms of a long forgotten political yesteryear but this is not yesteryear, the public soon found out that those rascal fat cats could be disguised as either Republicans or Democrats with the results being much the same.

Well into his 7th year as president Obama still has no meaningful tax reform to keep the rich from getting richer and the poor poorer.  There is no immigration reform, no massive defense spending cuts so we could finance Obama's big government social agenda.

Health care and education in America are the world's most expensive disasters as the more money we throw at the problems the more entrenched the crooks and vast the crannies where billions of dollars just seem to disappear.

We almost have wound down war to the point where we have the worlds most powerful and angry fighting force and no war to go play in.  Powerful because the military industrial complex that really rules the world has had a siphon sucking our defense billions into their R&D, new and useless weapons systems, and war after war.

Obama was greeted into the presidency by the worst recession since the last time Wall Street was caught with their fingers in Uncle Sugars' federal cookie jar, the Great Depression.

In 2008 it was home mortgage fraud on a scale beyond imagination.

It was securities fraud and deception enabling crooks to control the stock markets.

It was bankrupt union and government pension programs because of incredible extravagance.

When the bankers, home mortgage financiers, powerful labor unions, Wall Street securities experts and of course the politicians and bureaucrats all share in the illegal wealth being generated well, is it any wonder why the rich get richer and the poor get screwed?

Of course the Main Street media, that Constitutionally protected force in America that went from reporting the news to manufacturing the news in order to serve their own special interests, jumped on the Obama bandwagon either because they saw him as the Messiah of a New Social Order or they were ordered to by their advertisers.

So let us review history.

Obama #44 was greeted into the presidency by an economic disaster.

Bush #43 was welcomed into the presidency by the 911 Twin Towers catastrophe.

Clinton #42 was welcomed into the presidency by a bunch of young girl friends.

Bush, Sr. #41 was welcomed into the presidency by Desert Storm.

Reagan #40 was welcomed into the presidency by the Iran hostage crisis and the economic crisis.

Carter #39, was welcomed into the presidency by the Watergate scandal aftermath and public skepticism.

Ford #38 was welcomed into the presidency when the prior president disappeared on a helicopter.

Nixon #37 was welcomed into the presidency with the Viet Nam war raging out of control.

Johnson #36 was welcomed into the presidency when his predecessor was assassinated.

Kennedy #35 was welcomed into the presidency by the Cuban missile crisis and Berlin Wall.

Eisenhower #34 was welcomed into the presidency with the Korean War.

Truman #33 was welcomed into the presidency with the atomic bombs dropping on Japan.

Roosevelt #32 was welcomed into the presidency with the Great Depression.

Hoover #31 was welcomed into the presidency with the 1929 Wall Street collapse.

Wait a minute, do you mean the last 14 presidents have all faced foreboding events in national and world affairs before or very early into their presidency?  Why on Earth didn't the Main Street media tells us about our history instead only focusing on Obama?

Every single one of the last 14 presidents with the exception of Clinton whose problems were kept pretty much undercover faced huge problems when taking office.

So maybe Obama didn't have it all that bad.  Maybe the Democratic leaders just need to stop whining about all their problems and roadblocks and roll up their sleeves and get to work.

There are still some issues of such importance to our future and magnitude to our present that if Obama and his enemy, the Republicans, could work together they still might leave a legacy of never losing sight that they are first and foremost Americans.

Shades of Nixon's Watergate psyche as Obama, Biden & Axelrod Flail at GOP Straw Dogs in Obama's Watergate

 .

Like many Americans I lived through the Watergate era and it was a sad time in our nation's political history when a paranoid president and his team was so obsessed with foreign money being given to the Democratic party to oppose the incumbent president that evil possessed the president and they went on to violate law after law before the straw dog collapsed as do most straw dogs and the president and his palace guard were disgraced and thrown from the highest office in the land.

It was 38 years ago when the political paranoia overwhelmed the White House and the Watergate was the outcome. There was the paranoid Republican president, Nixon, his top defender Haldeman, and his political operative Erlichman. The target was the foreign money pouring into the Democratic party to beat Nixon through Democratic operative Lawrence O'Brien.

Today we have a complete role reversal as Obama (Nixon) is raising the charges of foreign money pouring into the Republican coffers to defeat him, while Biden (Haldeman) is running around the country screaming foul about the foreign money for his boss, Axelrod (Erlichman) goes on national TV to denounce the foreign money and all three targeted GOP operative Carl Rove (O'Brien) as the villain.

Just like Watergate 38 years ago, the charges of foreign money influencing the election in 2010, this time by the Republicans unlike Watergate when the Democrats got the money, are baseless, senseless political drama and those feeding lies into the national debate deserve the same fate as the perpetrators of the Watergate.

Democrats should be just as disgusted as the Republicans and Independents by the insane charges and mudslinging by the highest office holders in the land and Obama, Biden and Axelrod should be shamed that they have resorted to Watergate tactics in a selfish and arrogant attempt to con the American voter and public opinion.

The President's Palace Guard - Nixon had Haldeman, Obama has Emanuel - the Elite Puppet Masters

-

When a new administration comes to office, especially one in which the leader, Barack Obama, has had no comparable executive experience, key staff often form a wall around the president that in time serves as a Palace Guard. In Obama's case his operation is controlled by his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, the only insider with previous experience in the White House from the Clinton years.

Because Emmanuel also has had experience as a congressman, a board member of a major housing mortgage firm, an investment banker with extensive Wall Street contacts, a major political fund raiser and a liaison with special interest groups he pretty much serves as the de facto president where policy, press, congressional relations and political affairs are consolidated under his ironclad control.

It is an extraordinary concentration of power in one individual who is not the president. One must reach back to the Nixon presidency to find a comparable concentration of power under Nixon Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman though Emanuel exercises much more control over Treasury and foreign affairs than Haldeman was ever able to acquire.

No one gets to Obama without getting through Emmanuel and nothing gets done by the White House without his personal approval. The Obama White House is centered around Emanuel and the many Chicago cronies surrounding him on the president's staff. The Nixon White House was controlled by the California cronies of Haldeman.

Masters of remote power such as Emanuel use the power and resources of the White House to control the agenda of the president. Politically, he calls all the shots. From fund raising to political appearances of the president Obama does what Emanuel tells him to do. The reform of Wall Street, perhaps the largest single issue that could impact on the Wall Street mess, is the responsibility of Emanuel, not the Treasury or Commerce secretaries.

Health care reform is controlled by Emanuel, not experts in health and insurance. If a deal is to be made with the large pharmaceutical companies it is made by Emanuel, not Obama. Any negotiations with Wall Street flow through Emanuel because of his long association with Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street powerbrokers.

Middle east foreign policy flows through Emanuel because of his background as a Zionist and experience as a volunteer in the Israeli army, not through traditional channels such as the Secretary of State.

No where is the control more pronounced than in the political arena where all contact with special interests including Wall Street, health care, banks and unions all come calling to Emanuel to get their favors from Obama. White House records indicated that SEIU leader Andy Stern was in the White House 22 times since Obama took office. That might explain who coordinated the SEUI involvement in trying to control health care town hall meetings or how SEIU will get their payback for sinking $60.7 million into the Obama campaign. Watch for SEIU to have a clear field to organize the health care industry.

Even the resignation in the 23rd Congressional District seat in NY currently being contested is supposed to be the handiwork of Emanuel where he got Obama to appoint GOP Congressman John McHugh to the Secretary of the Army position in September, thus resigning the seat, then tried to get a Democrat elected to the seat in a clever manipulation of the New York election laws.

When Sarah Palin blew a giant hole in his plan by endorsing a third party conservative and leading a charge that forced out the weak GOP candidate, it is rumored the White House (Emanuel) got the GOP candidate who dropped out to endorse the Democratic candidate for the seat. The election Tuesday will decide whether Emanuel or Palin had the most power influencing the NY election.

As Emanuel continues to use the White House as his political playground and Obama continues to do his bidding it remains to be seen if Emanuel can avoid the temptation to increase control like proved to be Haldeman's undoing when he ordered the break in at Democratic Headquarters in the Watergate, a staff power grab that brought down the Nixon presidency.

Emanuel nearly made a similar error when he tried to get the Decennial Census put under the control of the White House thus giving him the power to control the reapportionment of the nation's congressional seats by controlling the census results. It was a move stopped by Congress. The Democrats in control of Congress may be unwilling to give up any more control to the Emanuel White House gang.

Still, his current control on behalf of the president of the Wall Street reforms and the health care reform makes the Democratic leadership in Congress pawns in Emanuel's master plans. His personnel decisions to load up the White House staff with czars tainted by radical backgrounds and his pit bull approach to managing the president will not make friends in Washington and can only hurt the young and beholden president who pledged transparency and openness, a far cry from what we got.

In the end the economy will be his undoing as he tries to protect the Wall Street executives with their bailouts and bonuses while trying to make it look like the president cares for "Main Street" and the traditional Democratic special interests. We have seen how that works. Emanuel slams through the auto bailout for the Michigan unions and the first new plant by the government owned auto companies is in Delaware, the home of VP Joe Biden, not Michigan or Ohio. Playing such political games will one day get exposed.
