The deadly earthquake in Mexico has appeared to have triggered an eruption of a volcano in the country, adding to the death toll of at least 248 people.

The Popocatépetl volcano apparently erupted after the 7.1 magnitude quake struck Mexico City at 1:14pm on Tuesday afternoon.
A church on the slopes of the volcano in Atzitzihuacán collapsed during mass, killing 15 people, according to Puebla governor José Antonio Gali.
At least 20 children are among the 248 killed by the quake after the Colegio Enrique Rebsamen primary school collapsed.
Thirty more children and eight adults are sill missing, with desperate parents waiting outside the gates for any news.

Relatives said they had received a WhatsApp message from two girls inside.
Adriana D’Fargo, 32, whose seven-year-old daughter is still missing, said: ”They keep pulling kids out, but we know nothing of my daughter.”
President Enrique Pena Nieto, after visiting the school, appealed for calm, saying: “The priority at this moment is to keep rescuing people who are still trapped and to give medical attention to the injured people.”

The rescue effort continued long through the night, the work punctuated by cries of “quiet” so searchers could listen for any faint calls for help,
Mr Pena Nieto added: “They have heard voices in there.”
The magnitude 7.1 quake struck at 1:14pm on the 32nd anniversary of the tremor that killed thousands and came just two hours after earthquake drills were held across Mexico to mark the date.

Mexico City mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said buildings fell at 44 sites in the capital alone as high-rises across the city swayed and twisted and hundreds of thousands of panicked people ran into the streets blocking traffic.

The national Civil Defence agency reported that the confirmed death toll had climbed to 248, more than half of them in the capital.
The official Twitter feed of agency head Luis Felipe Puente said 117 dead had been counted in Mexico City and 72 in Morelos state, which is just south of the capital.

It said 43 were known dead in Puebla state, where the quake was centred.

Where a six-story office building collapsed in Mexico City, sisters Cristina and Victoria Lopez Torres formed part of a human chain passing bottled water.
Christina said: ”I think it’s human nature that drives everyone to come and help others.
Her sister Victoria added: ”We are young, we didn’t live in ’85, but we know that it’s important to come out to the street to help.”

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has struck Japan 175 miles from the Fukushima nuclear plant
Erin Brodwin,Business Insider 1 hour 20 minutes ago
(USGS)

Less than 24 hours after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake pummeled Mexico City, another tremor has occurred off the east coast of Japan.

The 6.1-magnitude quake struck roughly 175 miles east of the shuttered Fukushima nuclear plant at roughly 2:30 a.m. local time, according to the US Geological Survey. Its hypocenter — the underwater locus of the quake — happened at a depth of about 6 miles.

(A map of the tectonic plate forces that subject Japan to earthquakes.USGS)

Like Mexico, Japan is located in what is considered an active earthquake region.

The country is influenced by the slipping and sliding of several of Earth's tectonic plates, including the North America plate, Pacific plate, Philippine Sea plate, and Eurasia plate. Whenever these pieces of crust grind or butt up against one another, earthquakes happen.
Over the past century, Japan has been struck by nine severe earthquakes, each of which killed more than 1,000 people.
Part of the problem is the country's high population density, which can make even shallow temblors a serious risk.

In 1995, an earthquake along the Japan Median Tectonic Line near Kobe lead to more than 5,000 deaths.

More recently, the magnitude 9 Tohoku earthquake in 2011 killed more than 20,000 people after it triggered a tsunami that generated powerful waves up to 133 feet tall. That earthquake occurred just 43 miles east of inhabited land and its underwater hypocenter was close to three times as deep.

As of 4:45 p.m. ET, there have been no reports of damage or tsunami warnings from USGS or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Conversations with Melchizedek – More Weather Anomalies Coming

.
Jesus - The Path to the Creator
After Melchizedek's warnings about the unusual aspects of the first two hurricanes of the season, Harvey and Irma, and the wide swath of damage it caused, two more hurricanes are following in their footsteps and once again the Caribbean and Eastern Coast of the United States may face yet more strange weather behavior.

Hurricane Jose is meandering up the East coast and may give Boston and New England a blast as it passes by, a quite rare occurrence.  Hurricane Maria, however, poses a much greater threat as it is following the destructive path of Irma and has its sights set on the nearly destroyed Caribbean Islands, as well as the Eastern USA.  Speaking of anomalies, the Caribbean has not suffered a direct hit by two hurricanes in one season, another record that will fall in the next few days.

As damage estimates in the USA alone already push beyond $200 billion, additional damage will become a burden to the nations involved.

Of course we have also recorded nine major solar flares in the past two weeks affecting radio, cell phone, and other reception at a time when the solar disruptions are supposed to be in the multi-year quiet cycle.  Then there are the record fires all over the western United States, Canada, South Africa, Portugal, France, and Siberia burning millions of acres and destroying homes and businesses.

Melchizedek warned there would be numerous natural disasters over a twelve month period ending next August that would cause temporary disruptions to the electrical grid, Internet, and thus security systems protecting our borders.  His warning is for the entire world, not just America.

According to Melchizedek storms will continue to come off the oceans bringing high winds, flooding, and other damage.  He also said “the ground will be shaking” as well and to watch for significant earthquake disturbances in Middle America and the Western region of China near Tibet.

One of Melchizedek’s more profound quotes is to “look for the good in adversity.”  The world has been so focused on polarization, hatred, and frustration in recent times that finding good in adversity might appear to be an overwhelming task.

Human emotions are one of the most powerful forces we have at our disposal and our failure to master and control our emotions magnifies and intensifies the impact of the negative emotions, thus shrouding earth in a cloud of negative energy.

In gloomy times like these, and according to Melchizedek this is not the first nor the last time we will experience this, it often takes intervention by Divine Providence to snap us out of our self-generated and self-perpetuated sea of negativity.

We are in an adjustment phase and the series of weather anomalies is our wake-up call to stop our downward spiral and once again move ahead with our spiritual evolution.  Will we wake up?

All it takes is a change of attitude which is achieved through prayer, collective prayer, to our Creator.  Earth is abundant with religions and philosophies claiming a connection to the Creator so where are the leaders calling for us to stop the hatred, and to pray.  No one is pleased with the way things are and they are only going to get worse as long as we remain trapped in falsehood, and we remain self-perceived as victims.

You have the power, along with everyone else who shares a vision of a world in peace and harmony, free of hunger and bias, hatred and starvation.  Do you really think the Creator of all that is would not give us the power to make things right?  The power is the ability to ask for His help in making Creation, our world, serve the will of the Creator and manifest the love and mercy and compassion and empathy for all of Creations within Creation.

All souls are equal when it comes to our relationship to the Creator.  If we use our creativity, our imagination, and our determination, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.  Maybe it is time we give it a try.

Massive earthquake rocks Mexico

People react on a street in downtown Mexico City during an earthquake, on September 7, 2017.

An earthquake of magnitude 8.0 struck southern Mexico late Thursday and was felt as far away as Mexico City, the US Geological Survey said, issuing a tsunami warning. It hit offshore 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest of the town of Tres Picos in the state of Chiapas.

Mexico’s president says that the magnitude of the earthquake that hit the country is 8.2, the biggest the country has seen in a century.

Enrique Pena Nieto confirmed that at least five people have died in the temblor. He also said that major damage has been caused and that 1 million initially had been without power following the quake, but that electricity had been restored to 800,000 of them.

He said that there have been 62 aftershocks and it’s possible one as strong as 7.2 could hit.

The U.S. Geological Survey has reported that the quake had a magnitude of 8.1. It hit off the coast of southern Mexico, toppling houses in Chiapas state, causing buildings to sway violently as far away as the country’s distant capital and setting off a tsunami warning. (AP)

Massive Sunspots and Solar Flares: The Sun Has Gone Wrong and Scientists Don't Know Why
 Alexa Halford,Newsweek

This article was originally published on The Conversation. Read the original article.
If you still have your solar viewing glasses from the eclipse, now is a good time to slap them on and look up at the sun. You’ll see two big dark areas visible on our star. These massive sunspots are regions of intense and complicated magnetic fields that can produce solar flares—bursts of high-energy radiation. You can just make them out with solar viewing glasses, but they’re better viewed through a solar telescope.
These two huge sunspots are currently causing quite a bit of consternation and interest. The solar storms they’ve sent toward Earth may affect communications and other technologies like GPS and radio signals. They’re causing amazing displays of the Northern and Southern Lights. And space weather scientists like us are excited because we wouldn’t normally expect this much activity from the sun at the moment.
The sun goes through 11-year cycles of solar activity. What scientists call a solar maximum is the time in the cycle when the sun is putting out the most energy. That’s when we tend to see the most sunspots, solar flares and associated solar storms. Some solar maxima are larger or more active than others—such as the 1990-1991 solar max. But this last cycle, which peaked in 2014, was quite small, and there were few large geomagnetic storms.
We’re heading into the bottom of solar minimum, when the sun tends to have fewer sunspots, solar flares and coronal mass ejections—large expulsions of plasma, electrons and ions, and magnetic fields. But despite where we are in the sun’s cycle, activity on the sun has dramatically picked up over the past few days. On and off, these two sunspots have been flaring and shooting out coronal mass ejections, directed toward Earth.
So what’s going on with the sun? And should we be concerned about this somewhat out-of-character solar behavior?
Here’s what’s happened so far

Huge solar flare recorded by NASA on September 6. NASA/GSFC/SDO

On September 4, the sun started sputtering. A moderately large flare (classified as an M5.5) erupted at approximately 18:30 UTC. It produced a coronal mass ejection aimed at Earth.
The sun continued to flare on September 5. A solar energetic particle event from the previous day’s activity arrived at the Earth, where it likely affected radio communications as well as the health of satellite systems.
On September 6, the sun produced two massive X-Class flares. This is the category for the strongest of all solar flares. NASA announced one was the most powerful since at least 2008. It produced another coronal mass ejection.

The second and strongest of the two X-class flares on September 6 produced a coronal mass ejection directed at Earth.NOAA

Over the next day, the same sunspots continued to spit out more solar flares. It took about an hour for the solar energetic particles they emitted to arrive at Earth. These protons are incredibly fast-moving. They can affect communication systems, typically in the polar regions where they are more likely to enter into the Earth’s atmosphere. As with all increases of radiation in space, they can also affect satellite systems and the health of astronauts.
Early in the morning hours of September 7 in the U.S., that first coronal mass ejection that erupted from the sun three days earlier arrived at Earth. Because of the way its magnetic field aligned with Earth’s, it generated only a small geomagnetic storm.
After being detected by spacecraft upstream from Earth in the solar wind, the massive coronal mass ejection from September 6 also hit Earth on the evening of September 7 EDT. Its arrival was a few hours earlier than space weather forecasting agencies around the world predicted.
What other effects will Earth see?

Both sunspots are visible on the sun’s surface, as well as the flare in the solar atmosphere. NASA/GSFC/SDO

All this solar activity has already caused a couple of radiation storms in Earth’s high latitude regions that blacked out radio communication at certain frequencies. The impacts extended toward the equator and have affected high-frequency communications, including ham radios, which are used in emergency and disaster relief management. Radio fade-out maps from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology show that high-frequency radio communication disruptions have likely occurred in the same areas being pummeled by Hurricane Irma.
There has likely been a loss of global navigation system satellite communications in those same areas, but it will take time for the data to be analyzed and for us to gain a full understanding of how this space weather activity has affected those on the ground. The radiation storms may also force flights over the polar regions to reroute to avoid increased radiation exposures for people on board and potential loss of communication and navigation systems for aircraft on these paths.

With the collision of the coronal mass ejection from this X-Class flare with Earth come other impacts for the near-Earth space environment. Geomagnetic storms, like the one currently in progress, are known to wreak havoc on a range of satellite and ground-based communication technologies, as well as power grids, GPS/GNSS, and orbit predictions of satellites and space debris. It is also very likely to produce dazzling aurora activity as far south as the northern U.S. and Europe in the Northern Hemisphere, and as far north as southern Australia and New Zealand in the Southern Hemisphere.
While scientists and aurora-hunting enthusiasts closely watch the storm’s ongoing effects, others will be bracing for problems and disruptions to the many technological services that will be affected.
We don’t need to worry about this coronal mass ejection being “the big one”—a solar storm direct hit that could cause widespread power blackouts and trigger as much as $2 trillion worth of damage, according to a National Academy of Sciences study. But this storm, on the back of this month’s abnormally active space weather, may wind up on the larger end of the scale, and will be the subject of lots of analysis and research.

Images of the sun during solar cycle 23. You typically see more activity during a solar maximum (2001) than during a minimum (1996 or 2006). ESA&NASA/SoHO

We don’t yet fully understand everything that is happening. But the activity over the past few days, when the sun should be within its quietest period, shows that significant space weather events are possible at any stage of the 11-year solar cycle.
You can help us study this and other solar storms as a citizen scientist. Sign up for Aurorasaurus and let us know if you observe aurorae with this event.
