Natural Disaster: 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Montana, Raising Supervolcano Concerns

Yellowstone National Park, which covers parts of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, lies on top of a supervolcano that could effectively wipe out the United States if it were to explode. The last time it did, 640,000 years ago, it expelled 240 cubic miles (think about that) of rocky debris into the sky.

Early Thursday morning, residents of southern Montana feared the worst when a 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook the region. Though its epicenter was only 230 miles from Yellowstone, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) says the seismic activity was not irregular, and the supervolcano is not expected to erupt anytime soon.

"The location and focal mechanism solution of this earthquake are consistent with right-lateral faulting in association with faults of the Lewis and Clark line, a prominent zone of strike-slip, dip slip and oblique slip faulting trending east-southeast from northern Idaho to east of Helena, Montana, southeast of this earthquake," said the USGS.

Nevertheless, people were concerned.

Those of you who follow the CPT are well aware of the political division, partisanship, and downright nastiness that has become a part of the current American culture. Not since the Civil War has there been such a radical divide among Americans and there are no signs things will cool off soon.

It is times like these that we should pay particular attention to the prophecies of the Native Americans and to the scientific data being reported by the government. When I say the "data being reported by the government" I mean just that. There is a lot of data not being reported by the government and that is my major cause of concern.

Science has made a determined effort to control the weather as there are often gray lines between the scientific community and the military industrial complex in most major countries. This has been going on for many decades and there is nothing to indicate it has slowed.

As science unlocks the secrets of nature the military sees that as an opportunity to control nature and use it as a weapon. More important, only the defense and intelligence communities have the unlimited budgets needed to further the work of science in highly technical areas.



Try as it might, however, the control of weather has never been achieved by the military on a large scale but have the experiments to date altered the weather patterns we face? It seems as if the more we know about the weather the less we are able to predict the patterns. That is not consistent with the advances we have achieved.

Could it be that weather is controlled by a higher force, as the Native Americans believe, and that the more we tamper with it the more it will be used against us? If one only studied the astonishing increase in weather records that have been set the past few years, and especially the past year, it may seem that Mother Nature has been quite upset with the human condition.

Record temperatures, rain, snow, floods and damage seems to occur almost daily. That is just the small stuff. When you throw in the most devastating acts of nature, earthquakes, volcanoes and hurricanes, then a pattern does start to emerge.



Major earthquakes striking the Earth have greatly increased the past couple of years. In fact the largest of earthquakes have seemed to be following a pattern of rapid increase while also following a progression of fault lines. For example, there have been a series of major quakes from the tip of South America up the coast along the fault line all the way to the California border.



It seems that when a major quake occurs there is a shifting in the tectonic plates of the earth and a change in the pressure in one place can trigger other such reactions along the length and breadth of the fault line. Of course scientists do not agree.


Continuing what has been an incredible and incredibly horrifying string of large earthquakes around the world starting with the 7.0 Haiti Earthquake, then earthquakes in Guatemala, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, the 7.2 Southern California Earthquake and the Sumatra Indonesia Earthquake at 7.7 on Richter Scale, all by the first week of April.

This is the second time in 2010 Indonesia suffered from a "significant earthquake."


In all there were 173 significant earthquakes of above 6.0 on the Richter Scale in 2010  according to the US Geological Survey. And of those, 22 were over 7.0 on the scale. There were 159 significant earthquakes in all of 2009, 180 in 2008, and 196 in 2007.  In 2011, there have already been about 60 significant quakes and it is only mid-March.

In an average year there is 1 quake over 8.0, 17 from 7 to 7.9, and 134 from 6 to 6.9. At the current rate for 2011 there will be 288 "significant earthquakes", 115 more than in 2010 and far more than in recent years. We are on course to shatter the averages.



Note that the earthquakes hitting the Americas moved from Chile to Northern California along the fault line on the Pacific Coast. If this is the result of a readjustment of the tectonic plates then it will continue up the coast where the population density will be significant.



More ominously for the USA is the threat of a major quake in the Seattle area and two other points, Southern California and New Madrid, Missouri. Each of these areas has been hit by quakes over 8.0 in the past couple of centuries.  In 2011 and 2012, there will be events held throughout the central United States observing the 200th Anniversary of the great 1811 and 1812 New Madrid earthquakes that forever changed the mid-western landscape.

The New Madrid Seismic zone lies within the central Mississippi Valley, centered just below St. Louis, extending from northeast Arkansas, through southeast Missouri, western Tennessee, western Kentucky to southern Illinois. Historically, this area has been the site of some of the largest earthquakes in North America. Between 1811 and 1812, 4 catastrophic earthquakes, at least two with magnitude estimates greater than 8.0, occurred during a 3-month period. Hundreds of aftershocks followed over a period of several years.

The power of the earthquakes was so great the mighty Mississippi River began flowing backwards and there was a 50 foot waterfall in the river after the quakes. At that time, St. Louis and other major cities in the central U.S. were sparsely settled. At least 3 of the series of earthquakes were felt throughout much of the U.S. and as far away as Quebec.

Instruments were installed in and around this area in 1974 to closely monitor seismic activity. Since then, more than 4000 earthquakes have been located. The potential for the recurrence of such earthquakes and their impact today on densely populated cities in and around the seismic zone, has generated much research devoted to understanding earthquakes. A quake with a magnitude equal to that of the 1811- 1812 quakes could result in great loss of life and property damage in the billions of dollars. Scientists believe we are overdue for such a large earthquake.

The power of an earthquake is measured by the Richter scale and is a combination of ground motion and energy released by the quake. Each 1.0 on the scale is an increase in ground motion 10 times and an increase in energy released of 32 times. The energy released represents the destructive force of the earthquake. Thus an 8.0 quake is 32 times more destructive than a 7.0 quake.



However earthquakes are just part of the arsenal of weather catastrophes that are past due here in America. We are also part of the Pacific Rim volcano field and one of the most dangerous volcano sites is Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. This is home to one of the few super volcanoes in the world, a site where an eruption 65,000 years ago might have wiped out civilization. Recent developments in the Park include the eruption of a long dormant geyser, the deaths of a herd of bison from poison gas from the earth, and detection of a growing magma build up about 15 kilometers below the surface of the earth that some estimate is nearly 60 miles wide.



But don't take my word for it, check out the National Geographic links at the end of this story for detailed information on the Yellowstone super volcano to understand the potential catastrophic disaster that could result. If Yellowstone erupts, and the series of earthquakes moving up the west coast could be the trigger, then much of America could be buried in volcanic ash.



I think the government knows the threat to the USA from a physical disaster is far greater than any other threat we face and to avoid panic they are not telling us the truth about the potential. I also believe the ancient Native American prophecies which predict the eruption and natural disaster that follows have been so accurate for so long that we are fools to not consider the probability.

I think we all grew up hearing stories about times when the gods were upset, and most had a cast of humans involved who seemed to draw the ire of those Gods.  Thus Divine Providence took action against the human race, His creation I might add, to put an end to the self-destructive nature of humans.

Well this time I think we have really done it.  Move over all those ancient purges of humanity, there is a new messenger from the Almighty, and the message surely is not good.  You really do not want to make God angry.  It happened before with consequences as noted in the Old Testament.

The Presidential election in America seems to have angered God and it seems the way God has chosen to respond is to send a massive hurricane and make certain there is not enough warning to prepare for it.

Thus we have Hurricane Matthew bearing down on America and as of today, Tuesday, the news media has failed to tell people of the threat and danger.  Oh, they have filed endless reports on the Hurricane and Haiti among other islands in the Caribbean but have you heard a word about Norfolk, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, the New Jersey coast, or New York City and Long Island?

Of course not.

Perhaps there have been so many false reports from the weather stations in the past few years they are gun shy of making predictions, even though all predictions are computer models and not from humans.

I do not know about you but I no longer trust anything digital from the news to weather to gossip.  Behind every digital signal is a giant member of the One Tenth of One Percent Club, the good old OTOPC that is pulling all the strings on Earth now.  The Trillionaire's Club, owners of the Illuminati, New World Order, Templars, news media, and all the other secret societies on Earth will be in control.

Obviously, they do not want us to know about the Hurricane bearing down on about 50 million people in the Northeast or they would have started dire broadcasts about the monster storm about to engulf the East Coast.

One can only assume there are no advertisers left with any money to buy ads for the storm warnings, so no ads, no warnings.

By now, all the shelves in stores would be emptied, even after the prices were doubled for hurricane preparations.

Well Gallup says 94% of the public do not trust the news media, and since weather is part of news, I guess it is a good thing they are not warning us because the warnings would be wrong.  They would generate a panic in Boston as the storm destroys Washington, D.C.

No, finding the truth requires a more concerted effort.  Thus, I dusted off the Ouija Board and asked if I could trust the weather forecasters.  The answer, "Eejits", the Irish-English equivalent of idiot but softer of tone.

When I asked where the big storm would hit I got a curious four-word coded response from the Board, "steamy blabbermouths, and blowhards!"

Clearly, it meant our nation's capitol where there is always a cloud of steam when the politicians gather.  The only problem I ever had was determining if those characters were working up a head of steam or were lost in the fog.

Then I asked what we did to make God so angry and deserve such a storm, and the Ouija Board, quite indignantly, said, "Listen to the Eejits Eejit."

What kind of Almighty God would want to silence humanity in such a way I thought, when the Board shot a parting answer, "Not just The One, but also the six Alien races already there."

My first question was what in the world did Trump say this time.  Then it occurred to me, the Board was not talking about "illegal aliens" but about the kind from somewhere far out into the galaxy.  In case you are wondering, the six Alien races are defined in the next story.

 

Not one to take such abuse from paranormal, spiritual, or ethereal answers, I promptly packed up the Board and decided to take my chances with common sense.  Trust no one and watch I Dream of Jeannie reruns until November 9 and all will be well.

Once upon a time, actually in the time of William Shakespeare, his words, "Beware the ides of March," served as a warning, a dramatic foreshadowing, for Julius Caesar who was killed off on that date according to Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar.

Since the event happened in 44 BC, and Shakespeare wrote the play in 1599, we Americans, not into Old English and Shakespeare anymore, changed the meaning to be a forewarning of potential severe weather, as in beware the ides of March, in like a lion, and out like a lamb.

Well the bad weather seems to have come in February this year, perhaps we need to change the meaning of Shakespeare's warning once again.  I do not know about you, but just two days into March and the world seems to be engulfed in a dangerous malaise of bizarre news, events, and chaos.

For example, the Iraq army is attacking ISIS, the same Iraq troops who cut and ran the last time they met.

The charismatic leader of the Russian opposition to President Putin, Boris Nemtsov, was murdered just outside the walls of the Kremlin in Moscow the day before the biggest opposition protests against Putin in recent years.

The Dow Jones, S&P 500, and NASDAQ stock markets all set record highs this week and it is only Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington to address congress tomorrow.

Obama and his senior advisors refuse to meet with Netanyahu even though they are in the final stages of a deal with Iran, who is committed to the annihilation of Israel.

Terrorism continues to dominate headlines so congress and the president fail to agree on how to fund our only defense against the terrorists, the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaking of terrorists, the latest act of brutality by ISIS was the release of 19 Christian prisoners, which no one can figure out.

Putin continues to grab land from the Ukraine while the USA plays footsy with a bunch of bad guys around the Middle East.

In yet another act of terrorism, ISIS might have declared war on Twitter who is trying to stop the 90,000 Tweets a day from ISIS alone.

North Korea and their leader with the new haircut threaten to destroy the Stars and Stripes, namely America, probably because he cannot buy the movies he wants.

As America closes in on energy independence, congress approves the Keystone Pipeline but Obama vetoes the dastardly project.

Speaking of Obama, his buddy, the Reverend Al Sharpton, still has unlimited access to the White House even as he has failed to pay millions of dollars in taxes he owes the USA.

Then there is MSNBC, who finally realized their claims that Morning Joe was the top rated news show on cable are not only misleading, they are false.

MSNBC also has the Reverend Al Sharpton show, which has consistently lost ratings, and might just be the lowest rated news show on cable.  In the background, someone is investigating the Reverend to see if major corporate sponsors of his foundation are protected from racial protests because of their payments.

In sports NASCAR made a rules change that has enraged all the top drivers by disqualifying their cars.  This comes after completion of their first season under major new rules changes concerning the NASCAR driving championship.  Every major driver and the most winners on the NASCAR Sprint circuit failed to make the finals.

Disgraced NBC News anchor Brian Williams, thrown off the air because he thought he was a famous entertainer as well as news anchor, has opened the door to charges other news people on television have enhanced, stretched, or just plain lied about their experiences.  Really, we do not have a biased media do we?

To top off the 2nd day of March, the artist who painted an official portrait of President Clinton fessed up today and said he put the shadow of Monica Lewinsky in the portrait to show his disgust for Clinton's affairs.

More bizarre Clinton news, Hillary people say she will make her presidential announcement on April 1 so does that make it an April's fools joke?

The truth is, even though the Ides of March officially take place March 15, we have a great jump on it with the bizarre incidents listed.

Normalcy is non-existent.

Mediocrity is a distant dream.

News reporters are not supposed to be the news.

Our president claims to represent the two thirds of the public who refuse to vote.

THE POTOMAC RIVER JUST BEFORE 9 PM.

 

 

Well I live on the intersection of Charles Hall Road and Beach Road and at exactly 9:01 pm on June 10, about a month ago, I was standing in my yard taking photos of the nasty weather and hoping to get a picture of the tornado the National Weather Service said was between Fredericksburg, Virginia and Coltons Point, Maryland, on the banks of the Potomac River.  It was supposed to be headed right toward us.

Suddenly the sky turned black and a roar of wind like a Cessna on steroids hit and the sky directly above me started twirling in a massive circle.  It was the second time I watched a tornado go directly overhead here in Maryland and my third experience as I was standing in a Nashville parking lot in 1998 when a large tornado swooped overhead and slammed that city.

 

 

But it gets better.  My homes in Iowa, Nebraska and New Jersey all got hit by tornadoes, one was destroyed.

And since arriving in Southern Maryland three hurricanes have hit.

Good thing I had all that practice growing up in Iowa and Nebraska when we had to fill sandbags to stop the Mississippi or Missouri rivers from flooding.

Or had to survive paralyzing blizzards and 35 below zero cold.

All of a sudden our torrid heat wave doesn't seem all that bad.
